The Home Builder's Manual of Mud Brick Design and Construction, Introduction

Introduction

Author: Alistair Knox

The worldwide mud brick revival began in Australia at the conclusion of the Second World War. The movement occurred partly because of the shortage of normal building materials such as structural timbers, baked clay bricks. all forms of root coverings, plumbers' supplies, baths, basins and the like, and partly because the long-awaited peace had stimulated a great need for building of all types of house construction that had lain almost dormant through the Great Depression ot the 1930s and bad been aggravated by the destruction caused through World War II which terminated in 1945.
